Member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants

Welcome to my website. My name is Kate Sissons. I graduated from RADA in 2002 and I have since worked in Theatre, television and film as an actress. For the last few years i have mainly done voiceover work while I raise my family. My partner and I have a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. we live in Honor Oak Park in South East London. When my dad died in 2019 after a long illness, it fell to me to write and deliver his eulogy. I felt overwhelmed at first, but ultimately I found the experience to be cathartic. When the dust settled a little and i’d had time to reflect on that difficult time, I realised that somewhere inside me was the calling to help other people to arrange ceremonies for their loved ones.

Why do you need a celebrant?

A funeral celebrant is someone who is specifically trained and certified to compose and deliver funeral ceremonies. It is a celebrant’s job to meet the specific needs of the bereaved to ensure that the service feels right. Whilst the celebrant probably didn’t know the person who died, it is their job to get a feel for who they were so they can deliver a completely bespoke ceremony which will be remembered for all the right reasons for years to come. A funeral celebrant can act as your grief companion during your darkest hour and help you find the perfect way to celebrate your loved one through creative writing, poetry, music, art work and so much more.

Why Choose Me?

Bespoke Eulogy

I can help you to organise your memories into a beautiful eulogy and provide inspiration in terms of poetry, music or readings. Your ceremony will be completely bespoke. I do not work from templates.

A deep understanding of Grief

There is no getting away from it. Death is difficult. Not being able to see our loved ones ever again is deeply painful. But I also believe that that pain is ok if we let it be there. We need to feel deeply. We need to cry and move through our feelings as they arise in us.

Daily Mindfulness Practice

For many years now I have had a daily meditation practise. I have found that mindfulness helped me enormously with my grief when my dad died in 2019. Should you feel inclined I would be very happy to introduce you to these techniques which can help during times of stress and grief.

Classical Theatrical Background

I am a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and this training in classical acting enables me to deliver the ceremony you need me to.

Testimonials

“Kate provided an excellent service and really captured the spirit that I had intended for my father’s funeral. Her professional approach, attention to detail and input made what was a difficult time so much easier.”

— Mark Reynolds

Kate gave a beautiful celebration of my brother's life. Kate captured everything special about my brother, so much so, that some of our guests thought she knew him personally. Kate's communication in keeping myself involved with and arranging the service has been excellent. Nothing has been too much trouble. It was so reassuring having someone knowledgeable, articulate and caring to help me through such a sad time.

-Jackie Kelly

When my wife Sheila died in April the undertakers put me in touch with Kate Sissons to handle the cremation ceremony. Kate came to my house at the appointed time and I with my eldest daughter talked to her for about three quarters of an hour about my wife, her life, her interests and her role in the life of the family.  We next met Kate at the cremation where she faithfully recorded what we had discussed and both we as a family and all the guests agreed that she had perfectly caught the essence of Sheila, for which we were very grateful. I have no hesitation in recommending, if you unfortunately find yourself in the same position as we were in, and you are looking for a celebrant, that the use of Kate Sissons will guarantee complete satisfaction
